How I Lost 10 Stone: My Journey & What I Learned

Losing 10 stone (63 kg) changed my life—but not just physically. The real transformation was internal. It wasn’t a straight line. There were wins, failures, setbacks, and breakthroughs. I want to share what truly made the difference, in the hope it helps you on your own journey.

1. Small Steps Win

I didn’t wake up and overhaul my life overnight. I started with one small change: walking a bit more, drinking more water, prepping a few meals and cutting down on sugar. Those changes didn’t feel like much at the time—but they added up. Big results come from small, consistent steps.

2. Accountability Matters

Trying to do it all alone rarely works. I started involving others a little—friends and family. That accountability and support gave me structure. It helped me keep going when motivation faded (and it did, often). It also felt great to get told I’d lost weight and looked good.

3. Failure Isn’t the End

There were moments I felt like I’d taken a big step back—binged, skipped exercise, gained weight back. But failure isn’t the end unless you quit. I learned to fail forward: to reflect, adjust, and keep going. Success is built on failure, not the absence of it.

4. Patience Beats Perfection

The weight didn’t come off quickly. Sometimes, I lost nothing for weeks. Other times, it dropped off. I had to trust the process, even when the scales didn’t reward me. Patience became my superpower.

5. Empowerment Over Shame

This wasn’t about hating my body—it was about taking back control and being kind to myself. Every healthy meal, every workout, every early night—it made me feel more empowered.

6. Willpower Isn’t Everything

Willpower helps, but it’s not reliable. I built routines, removed temptations, and planned ahead. I didn’t wait to “feel motivated.” I acted first—and often, motivation followed.

7. Belief & Faith

I had to believe I could change, even before I saw the evidence. I had a vision of that person. I also looked at an old picture of me when I was lean. This spurred me on. That belief—and faith in something bigger than me—carried me through the hardest times.

If you’re on your own journey, know this: you’re not alone. You’ll have a story similar to mine one day and be able to support others too. You don’t need to be perfect—just consistent. I’m here to support you with these blogs and my resources, to make lasting change possible.

You’ve got this.
